LANSING, MI September 9, 2019 —Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN) is launching Velatura Public Benefit Corporation (Velatura) to consult with and provide product solutions to other states’ health information stakeholders to increase overall national interoperability.
MiHIN is Michigan’s state-designated entity to improve healthcare quality, efficiency, and patient safety by sharing electronic health information statewide, helping reduce costs for patients, providers, and payers. Velatura will offer the same services that MiHIN offers — including patient matching and coordinating patient care — along with consulting and interoperability accelerations services. Velatura will be able to assist any organization seeking large scale change including mission-based delivery organizations and for-profit entities such as health systems, health plans, foundations, communities and more.
“Velatura’s overall goal is to improve point of care with health IT, lower total health care costs and increase patient satisfaction on a national basis,” said Tim Pletcher, CEO of Velatura and MiHIN. “We’re looking to states and state governments as well as organizations that recognize the need to engage all of the stakeholders in healthcare to promote standardized approaches, scale shared services and widely adopt new innovations to improve health.”
Velatura will also draw upon MiHIN’s Use Case FactoryTM which is a collection of widgets that share data, necessary in sharing health information electronically focused on care coordination, public health reporting, infrastructure, consumer engagement, and quality measure information. Velatura specializes in the operation of a provider directory, immunization reporting and forecasting, public health, Active Care Relationship Service®, Admission, Discharge and Transfer notifications, medication reconciliation, and quality measure information to comply with State Medicaid and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Velatura also partners with companies and organizations nationwide to host Connectathon’s—collaborative events where developers, vendors, and subject matter experts can learn about, create and test interoperable solutions in safe environment.
